Bridging the Gap: Discussing Our Vision with Alison Hume MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Autism

We reached a significant milestone in our journey toward creating a more inclusive world for neurodivergent individuals. We had the distinct honor of meeting with Alison Hume, the Member of Parliament for Scarborough and Whitby and the esteemed Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Autism.

Presenting Our Vision for Change

The meeting served as a dedicated platform for us to present our latest project and share the data-driven work we have been developing. Alison Hume is a tireless advocate for the autism community, particularly known for her focus on improving SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) services and closing the disability employment gap.

During our discussion, we walked through the core pillars of our project, emphasizing how our work aligns with the urgent need for better support systems and greater public understanding of autism.

Key Highlights from the Discussion:

  • Strategic Project Showcase: We presented a detailed overview of our work, focusing on how our solutions address real-world challenges faced by the autistic community.

  • Policy & Advocacy: Discussing how grassroots projects can inform parliamentary discussions to create lasting legislative change.

  • A Productive Exchange: The session was incredibly collaborative; Alison’s insights as Chair of the APPG provided us with invaluable perspectives on navigating the national landscape of neurodiversity advocacy.

Why This Meeting Matters

Having the opportunity to present to the Chair of the Autism APPG ensures that our project isn’t just a local initiative—it is part of a national conversation. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive and has provided us with a clear roadmap for our next phase of development.

“Effective change happens when lived experience meets legislative action. Our discussion with Alison Hume MP was a vital step in ensuring our work reaches the corridors of power.”

What’s Next?

Following this productive session, we are more motivated than ever to refine our work and continue our outreach. Even more, we are hoping to reach out with a podcast too! We are committed to keeping this momentum going as we move toward our next project launch.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to advocate for a world that works for everyone.
